Mediation isn't as scary with somebody by your side

Are you dreading a mediation, ways forward or co-production meeting?

When you are emotionally involved in your child’s struggles, it can be difficult to stay clear-headed in meetings. Emotions can be overwhelming and get in the way. When our emotions go into overdrive, we lose the ability to hear and think clearly, and may miss what is being said, or wish later that we’d said x or y, and we didn’t think of it at the time.

Amanda works with people who are feeling isolated and alone, and who are beginning to question their judgement. They often feel like an over-anxious parent, neurotic about their child’s progress while noting that professionals don't appear to share their concerns.

Amanda provides an advocacy service to parents and carers who need to engage in a meeting with Local Authorities. She is available to attend in-person meetings in Surrey, Kent and Sussex, or virtual meetings anywhere in England.

Ways we can work together

1

Appeal mediation

Has your EHC Needs Assessment been turned down? Or perhaps you’ve been told the Local Authority won’t write a plan? Or that the plan they’ve issued doesn’t include what your child needs? You will be asked to consider mediation before you appeal.

Amanda provides an advocacy service to parents and carers who need to engage in a meeting with Local Authorities. After reading the paperwork and drawing on her experience in this area, Amanda will suggest an approach for the meeting.

Having a supportive, well-informed third party in your meeting often gives parents the strength to do what is necessary for their child, and enables them to stop being a despondent, bewildered or frustrated spectator, and to become an informed, validated and empowered advocate.

The first step to seeing if you and Amanda would like to work together is a strategy call. The strategy call costs £180, and, if you do decided to proceed with Appeal Mediation Support, the cost of the strategy call will be deducted from the overall cost of the Appeal Mediation Support package.

Support for school meetings

Are you struggling to be heard at meetings with your school?  Sometimes having a supportive and well-informed third party attend with you can make all the difference.

Amanda will read all previous correspondence and thoroughly understand the issues you are having with your child’s education. A strategy call before the meeting enables you to workshop through any particular issues, and agree an approach. Amanda will support you in the meeting to make your case, asking questions and helping to prompt you to say the things you might forget in the moment.

The first step to seeing if you and Amanda would like to work together is a strategy call. The strategy call costs £180, and, if you do decided to proceed with getting Amanda’s support for a school meeting, the cost of the strategy call will be deducted from the overall cost of the School Meeting Support package.
